Deleting text

Buffers do not "erase" text. Text is "deleted", snipped out like cutting the middle section out of a string and sticking the two ends back together.

C-d Deletes the next character.
C-k Deletes the rest of the current line.

The meta-delete keys are

M-d Deletes the next word.
